Looking for some seedlings to buy and to plant at home? This Saturday April 13 from 9a to noon, we will be selling a variety of pepper, tomato, squash, herb, lettuce and green (kale, chard, arugula, mizuna etc) seedlings for $4.00 each. The greens and lettuces come in 4 or 6 packs for the same $4.00.
Proceeds go to support our work in local school gardens as well as the thousands of seedlings we are giving to the schools for free.
Come rain or shine, the sale will be a happening place in our big hoop house. The hoop house is at the south end of the Fertile GroundWorks garden. Our garden is located at 4743 East Avenue, between Mines Rd and Loyola Ave, behind the Asbury Church. You can not see the garden from the road - pull into the church parking lot and drive to the back of the lot; you will see our sign and the garden - just come on in. Please bring boxes to take your seedlings home in, and cash or checks to pay for any seedlings.
For those of you who scheduled your pre-ordered seedlings for pick up this Saturday - your orders will be packed and waiting for you at the front of the garden, so please stop there first. Again cash, or checks are the preferred payment methods.
Also, compost got delivered today so anyone who needs compost - please bring some bags or buckets to take some compost home with you. Also, remember to do the QR codes on the white board so the city will keep giving us all nice free compost!
