Have you considered how various features in a landscape increase or decrease carbon in the atmosphere? In this webinar, Kate Lenahan, Landscape Designer with CMG Landscape Architects, will discuss Climate Positive Design (CPD) - landscape design that captures more carbon than it emits. Through case studies of climate positive landscapes and demonstration of the Pathfinder carbon calculator, she will take us through the steps to measure the impact of design choices, material selection, and maintenance practices on our carbon footprint. Together, we’ll explore the links between water conservation and carbon sequestration. Landscape designers and builders are poised to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in the atmosphere by 1 gigaton by 2050. Are you ready to take this challenge?

Kate researches afforestation planting strategies that best capture carbon and are resilient to a changing climate. Her projects include urban master planning in Sunnyvale, design guidelines for Park Avenue in downtown San Jose, and the San Francisco Waterfront Resiliency Program.
