EBMUD and Contra Costa Water District provide mulch coupons for residents in those water districts.
Here is a list of local lawn conversion rebates available from water agencies, city departments, and water retailers. If your water supplier is not on this list, it may be because they do not offer their own rebate for lawn conversions, and they do not cooperate with another water supplier’s rebate program. Your water supplier may provide links to another agency’s rebate program (for example, the City of Martinez will link you to Contra Costa Water District’s rebate program).
All water supplier’s rebate programs vary by funds available, rebate amount, and applicant eligibility qualifications. We highly recommend you look into both your local water supplier’s rebate program as well as California’s Department of Water Resources (DWR) rebate program, as they can often supplement each other up to a total of $2/SqFt. If your local agency, city, or water retailer does not support a lawn conversion rebate program, you are still able to check your eligibility with the state’s rebate program. In general, lawn conversion rebates are first-come first-serve, and funds can be depleted!
Generally speaking, rebates are not awarded retroactively. Please apply for all available lawn conversion rebates prior to sheet mulching your lawn!
